The annual free Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival will take place in two locations over two days in September. Initiated in 2011 by Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty, the Festival kicks off on Friday evening, September 22, on Pioneer’s Plaza at 4:00 PM with four groups including the Spectrum Jazz Band from Morristown High School, Ty Stephens and Soul Jaazz, the Debra Devi Group, and The Downtown Charlie Brown Blues Band. On Saturday, September 23, the Festival moves across the street to the Morristown Green with the U.S. Navy’s Jazz Band The Commodores opening at noon. They will be followed by the Gotham City Latin Jazz Septet, the Hot Sardines, the Ana Popovic Band, and Louis Prima Jr. and the Witnesses. The Best Western Plus/Morristown Inn is offering special rates for the festival.
